Fan Fiction News
To those who read my stories in FF I apologize because I haven't posted anything. I have a chapter or two for Everlasting Love and I'll post them ASAP, though they might not be what you expect. I haven't had much time to write those stories, but I hope to catch up with everything this summer. Meanwhile, bear with me a little longer.
Beautiful Malice: A Novel

Author: Rebecca James
Released Date: July 1st, 2010
Buy it here.
Synopsis:
So. Were you glad, deep down? Were you glad to be rid of her? Your perfect sister? Were you secretly glad when she was killed? Following a horrific tragedy that leaves her once perfect family devastated, Katherine Patterson moves to a new city, starts at a new school, and looks forward to a new life of quiet anonymity. But when Katherine meets the gregarious and beautiful Alice Parrie her resolution to live a solitary life becomes difficult. Katherine is unable to resist the flattering attention that Alice pays her and is so charmed by Alice’s contagious enthusiasm that the two girls soon become firm friends. Alice’s joie de vivre is transformative; it helps Katherine forget her painful past and slowly, tentatively, Katherine allows herself to start enjoying life again. But being friends with Alice is complicated – and as Katherine gets to know her better she discovers that although Alice can be charming and generous she can also be selfish and egocentric. Sometimes, even, Alice is cruel. And when Katherine starts to wonder if Alice is really the kind of person she wants as a friend, she discovers something else about Alice – she doesn’t like being cast off.
My Review:
Beautiful Malice wasn't at all what I expected... it was much more! It was published in July, 2010 and I didn't hear about it or anything and after I finished reading it I realized that it was well known. The reason why I didn't hear about until I came across it while looking for other books, was because I don't usually read what I call 'normal YA' books. I mostly read Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy and all that other good stuff. I regreat not having found this book before. It was just amazing
The author managed to shift the book between three period of time: the Before (Which reveals what happened to Katherine's sister), the life-changing experience time (As she meets and deals with Alice), and present (her life as of now). It wasn't the least confusing, on the contrary, it was very intriguing.
This psychological thriller had so many twists and turns, unexpected and amazing ones actually, that I found myself unable to put the book down. I just had to know what crazy thing Alice had done this time and what exactly happened to Katherine's sister, or how Katherine was coping with the loss of her baby's dad's death.
Since the beginning I knew that whatever the outcome of everything was, it would be shocking and sad.
Katherine and Alice are, to say the least, completely opposites. Alice is wild and has the idea that you are supposed to live your life to the fullest no matter what. She doesn't want anyone tying her down to anything, therefore she refuses to have anything serious with Robby, who is head over heels in love with her and keeps coming back to her no matter how many times she hurts him. But, like Katherine, she has a dark secret that drives her to hurt everyone, specially Katherine.
Everything is explained by Alice herself at the end of the novel, just before what I consider the 'horrible part' that makes Katherine hate Alice even more happens. The solution, in my opinion, was obvious: move somewhere else with Mick (Whom I loved BTW) and as far away from Alice as possible, but then Katherine would have never known the truth and all that. Still, the end was so good that I hated it.
Totally recommend it.

I want to read this book so badly! It sounds very interesting and as a girl who has always loved Meg Cabot ever since I read The Mediator series I know she won't disappoint.

Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins
Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch.
That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.
Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.

But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Acher to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?
Talk about getting what you asked for!
This book had me on the edge of my seat for the last chapters and, if I'd had any nails left, I would have been biting them. It was a perfect read. Sophie has changed since we first met her in the first book. Now she's not that afraid of speaking for herself but she is heartbroken over what went between her and Archer. That being said, I suggest you go to the library or bookstore (or wherever you get your books from) and pick Demonglass. It was such a thrill to read and it left me gasping for air. Seriously. I read many books and get excited often. It took me two weeks to read the book because when I first picked it up I loved but then something emotional came up and... well, I was overwhelmed. It happens to me a lot. So my friend gave me the book again and I finished it the same day. It was so... exciting, amazing, awesome....
So, go and read it. You will see a lot of other characters and find out (if you don't already knew) Sophie's betrothed among other stuff left unsaid.

Comparing Books
I hate it when I read a review about a book and the reviewer compares it to Twilight, like Twilight is the king of the books or the only famous books out there. I mean, every book has its touch and something to like. Every book it's unique in its own way. So I don't see any reason why it should be compared.
Example:
“Move over Bella and Edward. Plum introduces a world and a story that are sure to intrigue teen readers and will easily attract fans of the Twilight series.” (Booklist )
The review above is for the book Die for Me by Amy Plum. While I haven't read the book because it comes out in May 10, 2011, the synopsis I read was very good. But why it has to be compared to Twilight, I don't get. I know, I know, Twilight is a big hit and still is because of the movies even though the series was over a while ago. I get it. People love Twilight. Hell, I even liked it too because it was my first book in English I ever read about three years ago and so my mind being new to books loved it. But now, and many, many books later, I see that the world doesn't reduce itself to one simple book like Twilight. There are many out there that are much better!
What I mean by this is that just because Twilight was really good doesn't mean other books should be compared to it. I'm sick of it.
another example:
"Richelle Mead's 'Vampire Academy' is the obvious heir to the 'Twilight' throne," declared the Daily Beast Web site last year.
Vampire Academy is one of my favorite series. Actually, it's so good I read the first three books in three days and even cried a little at four AM when something I'd been expecting but forgotten about happened. Yeah, that good. Anyways, I was pleased to know that I wasn't the only who thought Vampire Academy was really good (I found out I wasn't later on when I began reading and writing stories in Fan Fiction about Rose & Dimitri. Also when I saw so many fansites and people talking endlessly about them.) but the fact that they thought of Twilight throne worthy and all that pissed me off. Note that this is just my opinion and I'm not trying to offend any Twilight fans out there or anything. Yes, Vampire Academy is amazing but shouldn't be compared, just like any other book.

Night Huntress, Book One
Halfway to The Grave
Author: Janine Frost
Release Date: October 30, 2007
Series name: Night Huntress 1
Flirting With The Grave…
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father – the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.
In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She’s amazed she doesn’t end up as his dinner – are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn’t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side … and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
Review:
I gotta admit that when I first started reading the book I didn't like Bones. I liked Cat, she was a strong and clever heroine with a sense of innocence (meaning that she wasn't used to swearing or naked men in her truck asking for a "shag"), she was the perfect hybrid and—to a certain extent—a good role model when it came to killing Vampires. But as the book went on, and bones finally began to show a little bit more of his true self in order to convince Cat that not all Vampires are evil, I fell in love with him. Anyways, Cat was good at killing Vampires, using her femenine charms against the Vampires, except that this brave and bitter Kitty was very reckless at killing them. Sure, she got a lot of killings, but most of them were more luck than skill because if she would have come in contact with a Master... bye bye kitty.
It is rather funny as you read the book how she, without realizing it, begins to fall in love with one of the undead she's sworn to kill in for her mother's sake due to the fact that Cat is the product of a rape her mother suffered in the hands of a newly made Vampire (Later on the book Bones explains Cat how it was possible for her mom to conceive her).
So it is very suspenseful as you wonder whether or not she will be able to overcome her prejudice of Vampires and allow herself to love again. I totally understood her and her doubts.
I totally recommend this book, and the following ones to the series, as a good read. An amazing one actually for those of you who love Urban Fantasy. It kept me on the edge of my seat and it's packed with lots of action.
Next, there is a video of Jeaniene Frost talking about her Night Huntress series. I put this because I couldn't fine the original video. Enjoy! :D
Spring Break & Odds
Spring Break is finally here! I'm so excited because I'm going to catch up with my reading and writing. For the past couple of months I've neglected my duties as a writer in Fan Fiction and I'll see if I can do something about it. Unfortunately, I have some sort of writer's block when it comes to writing my stories but I'll try to work through it but if I start writing crap then I'll take my time until my Muse is working again.
Anyways, I'm going to keep reading no matter what now that I finally bought a Nook last week for my birthday. :D
In other news, my personal Muse for my own stories has been working lately and the moment I saw the following object I began thinking about the endless possibilities. ( I know your thinking 'how can she be able to write or think about one and not the other? Well, I ask myself the same question and I haven't been able to come up with a good answer yet. That's just the way I roll.)
I'm thinking who would be better or more equipped to handle those blades in my stories. I mean, we're talking about Vampires and other Supernaturals here. I'm sure Dhampirs have their hands full with so many 'Monsters'.
I'm amazed by both objects and can't decided which one is better. (sigh)
Anyways, see ya. Off to try to write a bit.

| Scary Khopesh right? Off with the head or out with the heart if the end of the blade penetrates the chest. Very useful for hunters when hunting down Supernaturals. |

| Now daggers are way more practical and easier to hide, but in combat they seem a bit useless because you have to get close to your opponent in order to wound and that seems pretty dangerous. Unless you are really good a throwing knives. |
Anyways, see ya. Off to try to write a bit.

FF News
Ok, for those who read my stories in Fan Fiction and are wondering where I am, well, I am here and still alive, even if it doesn't seem like it due to my delay on updating. I've been very busy working on school work and all that crap that bothers me, but I've been talking with my friend Bianca and she and I came up with really good stuff for Turning Point's sequel. It still doesn't have a name but it will as soon as you, the readers who follow and comment my stories, vote on my poll in Fan Fiction for which tittle you like better.
Anyhow, because right now school has finally given a break for the holidays, I think I will be able to keep up with stuff. At least I hope I will.
As to my other stories, I don't know when I'll update. I co-write Rewind & Change with a girl I know and she hasn't given me a chapter yet. So, until that happens, I won't update.

First
Ok, so this is my first post and it's kind of funny to me the fact that I've had this blog for a while, and actually put some stuff in it that I erased later on, but I never quite settled for an idea on what I should do with this blog. i mean, the reason why I created the blog in the first place was to post some of the things I write, but then I thought about it and realized that perhaps those things aren't ready yet to come out into the real world.
With that being said, I decided that I would use this to talk about the books I read and other stuff, but not post stories yet. Perhaps I will ask for opinions when I get ideas or something like that but I'm still nervous about showing anybody my work, my own writing. This is a bad thing for me mainly because I have an account for Fan Fiction and post the continuation of the third book in the series Vampire Academy. I didn't like how things ended in that book and decided to give it a shot in writing my own ending to it after reading so many stories other people posted. I said to my self that if they could then I could too, and there it is. :)
I've had some good reviews and of course there are the bad one, or the ones criticizing and I appreciate all of them because that tells me that what I wrote about the characters that don't belong to me, but to the awesome Richelle Mead, is actually good.
Anyways, just wanted to start off this way and all that. The release of the last book in the Vampire Academy series is on December 7, 2010 and I already pre-ordered my copy! I'm so excited and curios after reading the first four chapters that I'm unable to think about anything else but the infinite endings the book could have.
XOXOXO
